Galerie Thomas Zander is delighted to announce the next opening of the sculpture project with Peter Downsbrough, Two Pipes, Köln, 2021-2022.
The third venue is the Schlosspark Stammheim, Cologne. Downsbrough’s iconic sculpture Two Pipes, consisting of two vertical metal pipes of different lengths, – one 5,50 m, the other cut shorter –, are also installed at Skulpturenpark Köln and Kunststation St. Peter. Further venues in selected public and private spaces are to follow over the course of the year. The project is conceived and curated by Natalie Gaida in conjunction with the gallery exhibition of the artist’s work in September 2021.
The new installations are a continuation of Downsbrough’s project that originated in the early 1970s, both in the United States and in Europe. For the first time now it has been conceived as a connected series of outdoor sculptures installed at various venues in the Cologne area.
The Two Pipes are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst, Ghent, and in several private collections; they have been included in numerous publications and exhibitions.
